Ashley & Durrell | A Love Story Years in the Making
It has been such a joy to photograph Ashley and Durrell over the last five years! Watching their story unfold through my lens has been one of the sweetest experiences of my photography journey.
I first met Ashley and Durrell back in 2016 when we were all coaches at a nonprofit called Playworks. Ashley was the calm, organized leader—the one who always had a plan, kept things running smoothly, and helped train the new coaches with grace and patience. Durrell was the energetic, larger-than-life coach the kids adored. He could dunk a basketball, dominate any game, and still manage to make every child feel seen and included. Even then, it was clear—they were a power couple. You just knew they were in it for the long haul.
In 2018, I had the honor of photographing their engagement session, and since then, I’ve watched their beautiful family grow. Their son, Legend, has been such a joy to capture over the years—his big smile and adventurous spirit are truly something special.
It’s families like theirs that remind me why I do what I do. To witness and document these milestones, these seasons of change and growth, is truly one of the greatest honors.
