MY PHOTOGRAPHY JOURNEY

2006 - 2009

Where It All Started

When I was a freshman in high school I found a great group of friends and I felt like I belonged! That is when I picked up a camera and fell in LOVE with photography! I started taking pictures of every moment during that time! I was the historian for marching band, science club, and speech and debate (I was a pretty cool kid, I know, lol). I had absolutely no technical knowledge at the time but I was passionate about photography because I never wanted to forget the good times we had!

I made this collage over a decade ago. Can you see the word I was trying to make?

2010-2017

Learning & Serving

In 2010 I started college at Arizona State University studying Elementary and Special Education. I quickly got involved with a church on campus, and as soon as I learned it had a photography team I signed up!

The team was made up of exceptionally talented people including one person who was a professional photographer. They helped me learn how to use a DSLR and shoot in manual mode.

After graduating in 2014 with my education degree, I started teaching and continued to go to church and be a leader on the photography team. During these 7 years, I photographed hundreds of church services and special events. Towards the end of 2017, I started taking online photography classes that helped me hone in and develop my light and joyful style of photography!

2018-2019

Taking the Leap

In January, 2018 life was good! I was teaching and got engaged to a nice guy I thought I was going to marry in June. That was until we broke off our engagement a month before the wedding.

This meant that two weeks before the end of the school year I went from having a really busy summer to having virtually nothing to do. I decided that rather than sit and be sorry for myself, I would take a leap of faith and start my own photography business!

In 2018 and 2019 I photographed 33 portrait sessions and five weddings! I was starry eyed and filled with hope for the future!

2020

Finding Love

2020 was hard. COVID hit and photography screeched to a sudden halt. Several of my weddings were canceled, and photo sessions were few and far between.

The best thing happened in 2020 is that I met Robbie! Something clicked with Robbie in a way that I have never experienced before. He is kind and thoughtful, loves Jesus, and is continually challenging himself to grow and be a best version of himself. Within a few months we both knew that we were right for each other and in December 2020 we were engaged!

Even though it was a challenging year I am thankful that I got to photograph 10 photo sessions, one wedding, and one elopement!

2021

RENEWAL & PURPOSE

Getting married, buying a house, teaching, and traveling; 2021 was an incredible year! It was also the year a major shift happened in my photography business.

In March I decided I was done with photography. I prayed to God "If you want me to keep on doing photography you need to give me a sign because I can't keep going."

The next day someone called out of the blue for me to photograph them; and the day after that, and the day after that, and the day after that... For the next 13 days in a row people reached out to me asking me to take their portraits! I was in awe and barely trying to keep up with demand!

I photographed 22 portrait sessions and one wedding! What is even crazier is that I even though I only posted on social media one time the entire year It was my most profitable year yet!

2021 is the year I learned that God is bigger than my doubts, fears, and social media! It is also the year I knew that photography is more than a passion but something God is calling me to pursue!

2022-2023

growing & TAKING ON THE WORLD

2022 was an amazing year and busier than ever! I continued to teach, do photography, travel, and even do our first international trip! Robbie and I went to Hawaii, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Ireland. I also had the opportunity to capture 30 portrait sessions and one wedding!

In 2023 we traveled to France and London! Also in the summer of 2023 I discovered I was pregnant with a baby girl! Even with all of that excitement I photographed 26 portrait sessions and six weddings.

2024-2025

NEW BEGINNINGS

On March 29, 2024, I gave birth to my daughter, Annalise! She has been my greatest gift and now I am focusing on being the best mom and photographer I can be!

If you are still reading to the end, thank you for being here! It is my pleasure to share my story with you and I can't wait to document your journey which will be cherished for generations to come!
